Profile
Katherine is a European and Chartered Patent Attorney working in the Electronics, Software and Communications team.
Katherine has experience working with multinational companies, SMEs, and individual inventors. She drafts, files, and prosecutes applications in a broad range of technical areas, and in particular in the fields of consumer electronics, domestic appliances, telecommunications and optical systems. She regularly prosecutes applications both in Europe and overseas. In addition, Katherine has experience preparing opinions on validity and freedom-to-operate. Katherine has a particular interest in the technical areas of quantum computing, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence.
Education
Katherine graduated from Durham University with an undergraduate master’s degree in Physics. Her masters project involved using optical data collected from the Pan-STARRS1 telescope in Hawaii during its early stages of operation to investigate the variability of broad absorption line quasars, and to assess the effectiveness of the telescope for such investigations. Katherine also studied quantum computing, particle theory, and atomic and optical physics and their application to lasers.
Katherine has a certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University of London and has also passed the CIPA litigation skills course.
