Profile
Nick is a UK and European patent attorney in our Chemical and Life Sciences team. Before joining Venner Shipley, Nick worked for a multinational law firm based in Asia where he focused on patent prosecution and litigation, IP due diligence and providing freedom to operate opinions to multinational pharmaceutical and petrochemical companies.
Since joining Venner Shipley, Nick has gained experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a variety of technical areas including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, materials, polymer chemistry, chemical processes and medical devices. Nick has also assisted with oppositions before the European Patent Office.
Education
Nick graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class master’s in Chemistry. During his time at the University of Manchester, Nick completed research into the use of azo-compounds in non-linear optics and developed a range of graphene based membranes for use in the separation of volatile liquids.
Following his time in Manchester, Nick continued his studies at Queen Mary, University of London where he graduated with a master’s in Management of Intellectual Property. His research projects focused on pharmaceutical and agrochemical patent enforcement.
