Profile

Kyle is a trainee patent attorney in our Chemical and Life Sciences team. Before joining Venner Shipley, Kyle worked as a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Manchester. His research focused on topical therapies targeting systemic sclerosis-related calcinosis. During his position, he published the following paper: Burgess et al. Systemic sclerosis skin is a primed microenvironment for soft tissue calcification-a hypothesis. Rheumatology (Oxford). 2021 Jun 18;60(6):2517-2527. He was also a member of the University Research Ethics Committees and actively involved in student tutoring.

Education

Kyle graduated from the University of Manchester (UoM) in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Biology and later, a PhD in Regenerative Medicine in 2018. During his PhD, he worked within the ‘Polymers & Peptides’ research group on engineering peptide hydrogels for advanced 3D cell culture. As part of this group, he published the following papers: (1) Burgess et al. Western blot analysis of cells encapsulated in self-assembling peptide hydrogels.
