Freddie Kay

Freddie is a Trainee Patent Attorney in our Mechanical team having joined Venner Shipley in September 2026.

His previous work has included test rig design and 3D modelling, used for magnetometer and dead reckoning navigation systems at an aerospace company. He has also worked in building services, as well as resonance testing and damping for a structural engineering consultancy firm.

Education

Freddie graduated from the University of Bristol in 2026 with a master’s in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. His BEng research focused on computational fluid dynamics solutions to integrating hydrogen in natural gas infrastructure.

In his final year he studied renewable energy management, swarm robotics, and neural network architectures for solving dynamical systems. His MEng research involved the joint development of an adaptive human-in-the-loop robotics prototype integrating machine learning.
