Profile
Alan joined the Electronics, Software and Communications team in September 2019 and has a strong background in physical sciences. He has particular expertise in the fields of semiconductor devices, non-destructive testing, materials, electronics, and image processing. Alan has gained experience in the prosecution of UK, European, and foreign patent applications in a wide range of technologies for a variety of clients, including multinational companies, SMEs, and academic institutions.
Education
Alan graduated with a first-class degree in Physics and completed a PhD in the Functional Electronic Materials group at the University of Warwick. His doctoral research focused on the fabrication and characterisation of multiferroic oxide thin films and devices in which ferroic domain walls are the active element. These devices show promise for application in next-generation ferroelectric domain-wall memories which are compatible with the requirements of industry.
