Our people
We are friendly and easy to work with – something that sets us apart in our field. We also value team work so no surprise we chose a team challenge for our annual Summer Party. We also participated in this year’s London Standard Chartered race in July, competed in CIPA’s 5-a-side football and softball tournaments.
This year’s promotions
Yoann Rousseau, one of our Trade Mark Directors who has been with Venner Shipley since 2012, has been promoted to Partner.
In addition to Yoann’s promotion to the partnership, Nick Barrow, Henry Aldridge and James Plunkett were promoted to Senior Associate.
Exam success
It has been another year of outstanding results for our trainees and associates on their journey to complete their qualifications to become patent and trade mark attorneys.
Congratulations to Associates, Tasmin Bluck, Hugh Crook, Rachel Challands, William Grace, Alexandra Gregory, Claire Lightfoot, Mark Pearce, Charlotte Wilding and Ting Wu who have now completed all the necessary exams to become European Patent Attorneys.
Congratulations also to Rachel Challands who was awarded the Strode prize for achieving the highest mark in the country on the advanced IP law and practice paper.

With nine candidates now having completed their European qualifications, this has been a truly spectacular year. We look forward to continuing to support out talented team as their careers flourish in the future”.
We also congratulate Fabian Bor, Kyle Burgess, Emily Hofmann and Phil Reid for completing the Queen Mary Certificate in IP Law.
In addition, we extend our congratulations to Vivek Patel who has recently passed the Trade Mark Law and Practice Certificate course at Queen Mary University of London.

Europe’s Leading Patent Law Firms 2023 by the Financial Times
We have also been named a leading European patent law firm for another consecutive year by the Financial Times (FT) as one of only 38 UK firms to be recognised among the list of 177 European patent law firms that have been recommended.
We received special recognition for our work in the industry categories of biotechnology, food and healthcare and chemistry and pharmaceuticals.
